Improving social lives for men in IT

Hello everyone, I’m currently trying to find out how one could make the lives of men working in IT sector a lot easier when it comes to making long lasting friendships 😉
Which is why I have two very simple questions:
    1. As IT professional, what are the 2 biggest issues you’re dealing with when it comes to meeting new people?
    2. In YOUR perfect world, what would you wish for more than anything else when it comes to making friends?
Thanks so much in advance – looking forward to reading your answers!

Go to church every Sunday (or Saturday, or Friday, or whatever) and stay for coffee and donuts (or whatever). You will meet people who believe more or less what you are supposed to about the most important things, and perhaps a few weirdos who do not seem to belong in that church but attend anyway.

Be nice to people in the street (I met my wife by offering to help a blind lady who seemed to be about to collide with the table of a street merchant) and at work ( there may be bowling among some of your colleagues, although somehow I never went in for that).

Attend neighborhood meetings – they may even be important – and thus meet other people who care about the world around you.
