Learn to rebuild the Windows registry from DOS

Aug 7, 2000
John Kowaleski

Explains how to edit the registry from DOS.

Use all lower case letters in the search box.

I have never been ablr to recover from acorrupt .vxd file without performing a Windows install.
I would delete the file (Windows\system; \iosubsys; vmm32)
Boot from a startup disk, and re-install W98.

Remember that the most common cause of corrupt .vxd files is memory problems.
Either bad or incompatible memory will cause .vxd files to self destruct.

Everything is working fine on the machine such as the Hardware. What I want to do is edit the registry in DOS.
"I have two errors in the Windows Registry that needs to be removed through DOS only", because at the present I can't get into Windows to fix.
