Incorrect Tracking Information

By bambamz ·
I sent an email to one person with a CC to two other people. I had the tracking option set so that I could see when they read the email. The tracking information shows That I sent the message on 05/07/02 at 6:59 am and shows a status of 1 person reading the message. But then in the recipient information it shows one of the users reading it 05/06/02 at 4:31 pm and one at 05/06/02 at 3:37pm. How can it show that they read it with a date and time prior to when I ever sent it? Their clocks on their computers are correct.

Incorrect Tracking Information

by Mike Mullins In reply to Incorrect Tracking Inform ...

I can think of a couple of reason one is where the GMT offset is not calculated or set in some messaging servers (MS article Q170479).

Or if either of you are running an SMTP gateway, the SMTP gateway might be improperly formated to translate theGMT offset (MS article Q192054).

Probably the first one, though it helps to be verbose.

Good Luck

That wasn't the case. And even stranger. One of them had told me that they had read it but it wasn't until hours after that she actually opened it and then it changed the date and time opened. So could Outlook post a strange time if the employee is reading the email in preview pane and not actually opening it?
