I am having some trouble with one of my client’s computers, the machine has been supplied to him by a software company who specialise in retail software for the petrol industry
The PC was supplied with Windows 2000 professional loaded and the retail software only. I suspect that the Windows installation was not “clean” in that I believe it was moved from another service station.
I have been trying to install MS Office 2003 Basic edition on this PC without success.
The installation screen appears when I insert the CD and seems to be installing, then the installation “rolls back” and fails.
The installation reports an error 1603.
I read one suggestion that this is due to the Tahoma and Tahoma bold fonts being missing or out of date, but I checked them with known current versions and they are the same.
Also I would mention that the update for .net 1.1 framework fails to install via windows update.
Any ideas anyone?
