Installing 3com/US Robotics Modem
I have just brought a new windows 2000 system and i am trying to install the above modem on it, However when i connect the modem up to the system and start up the CPU it doensnt find this new modem i.e. no "new hardware found wizard" however it does install a modem without any user feedback. Shows up in control panel displayed as a "standard modem". When i try to connect to anything using this modem it does not work. The system installs this standard modem on COM1.
If i manually add my modem and set it to use COM1 and remove this standard modem my own Modem works Perfectly.
The problem being is that when i shut down the pc and restart it, it again installs this "standard Modem", and i am back to square one my own modem not working, i guess due to a conflict on the com ports.
Why does it keep finding my modem as a standard modem and not what it actually is?
How can i stop the system from doing this ?
Thankss in advance
