I installed a NIC (one that is is the Hardware Compatability list for Intel) and I can’t seem to configure the interface. When I execute ‘netstat -ain’, or ‘ifconfig -a’ it only lists the loopback adapter. How do I get it to recognize my NIC?
Actually, I have tried a couple of NIC’s that were on the hardware compatability list, but have gotten the same result. When I press ‘esc’ during bootup and have this utility scan for devices, it does come up with a generic ‘Ethernet Network Adapter’. If it finds it here I am not sure why I can’t “see” it or access it at the command prompt. There are no drivers for Solaris for any of the NIC’s I’ve tried. Am I missing something, or why is it so difficult to add a NIC to a Solaris box?
