Installing WinXP on Sata HDD (HP dv2000series)

A friend wants to install WinXP on an HP dv2000 lapto that was running Windows Vista ealier on; but will not do so. What is the solution to this or what can I do to get this done?

based on the location of that phrase, grammatically it means your friend will not do it, but you also said he wants to do it. So which is it?

If you're trying to say that he is unable to install XP, then you need to provide more details.

How is he trying to install XP?
Is he getting any error messages?

Often, with installing XP on a SATA drive, you have to press the F6 key when asked to install additional drivers. Then you put in the floppy (yes, floppy) with the SATA drivers.

You have a couple of options. I just went through this personally while creating an image for a Dell GX755.

Try using F6 during setup and supplying the SATA driver.

This didn't work for me, it kept asking me for the Intel Matrix Storage Driver even though I followed the Intel and Dell instructions. If it doesn't work for you let me know. There are 2 other ways to make it work.
