    Instant Messanger

    Does anyone know how to block AOL Instant Messanger from an NT workstation? I tried blocking the local UDP ports, but this also blocks DNS name queries. If anyone knows I would greatly appreciated it. Thanks

      We are using an internet monitoring utility called little brother. In their newest release 4.0 they claim the ability to track instant messaging tools such as aol im and block them if desired. The website is http://www.kansmen.com or http://www.littlebrother.com.

      If you are behind a firewall or proxy server, you should be able to block the instant messanger port(s).

      Not much you can do no your local net, except monitor, use profiles to prevent software installation, etc.
