You are low on either installed RAM, virtual memory, or free hard drive space.

If you are running Windows 9X, you want at least 128MB of RAM, but not more than 511MB of RAM.
Then, at least 500MB of free hard drive space.

For W2K, XP, I recommend 256MB of RAM to what your PC / budget can handle.

You can free up resources by closing down programs in the system tray (right hand side of the task bar)
Right click on any you don't need, and shut them down.

Another common problem is too many installed fonts.

See if there are fonts that you do not use / need, and un-install them from the font applet in Control Panel.
CAUTION: some fonts are used by programs and Windows for menus and such, proceed with caution.

To free up harddrive space, start by clicking on tools / internet options in IE.
On the general tab, in the Temporary files section, click on delete files.

Next, open Windows Explorer, and browse to C:\Windows\Temp
It is safe to delete any file that is over 2weeks old.

Hi,

If you cannot print from any application,

Open the Printers folder (Start -> Settings -> Printers). Then right click on the Printer which has the problem and then select Device Options tab and try increasing Printer Memory. This should solve your problem.

If the problem is only with MS Word then you have to free up disk space or increase your virtual memory.

I can't seem to find the print memory settings in the printer properties - OS is Win98. I wanted to increase the print memory as suggested by one of the answers.
