insufficient memory resources

By pchlp ·
I have a PC with WinME and Office 2000. When I try to use Excel, it locks up with no error or it says, "insufficient Memory resources". I have uninstalled Office 2000, reinstalled Office 2000,
reinstalled WinME over existing install and it is the same thing. Everything else seems to work.
I also used the repair tool and same results.
Any ideas
Thanks in advance

insufficient memory resources

How much RAM, and free hard drive space do you have?

If you have less than 128MB of RAM, or less than 500MB free hard drive space, you have insufficient resources.

You can also have this problem if you have over 511MB of RAM installed, due to a Microsoft bug.

If you have sufficient resources, then you need to look at how many programs are running.
Each Icon in the system tray uses up resources, as does large wall-papers.

Aslo, check with Alt-Ctrl-Del for "hidden" programs that are running.

To freeup hard drive space, empty the windows\temp folder.
Any file over 2 weeks old should not be needed.
Likewise, clear out your internet cache files.

Then, boot into safe mode, and run scandisk and defrag.
