Apologies if this is not the right place. I have 2 Toshiba laptops. The older has an Atheros Wireless Adaptor. The newer has an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200bg adaptor. When both are sitting side by side, the same distance from the Verizon provided router, the older Atheros will maintain the “reported” 54Mbps forever. The Intel in the newer laptop will start there and quickly degrade to 1.0Mbps until you choose to repair the connection or turn off wireless and turn it on again. Using XP. Frustrated and clueless. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
