I was having issues as per the subject title. When nothing solved the problem, I did a system restore from a backup that predated the problem. The disconnects persisted, so that meant it was a hardware issue. But I’d already tried several different cables and different ports in my router. That indicated a faulty router or modem.
My question is: How do I determine for sure which it is?
My wife’s computer’s Wi-Fi connection is dependent on that router, so I’d prefer to find a way to test without disrupting her Internet access. (If it were just me, I’d connect my computer directly to the modem.)
Is there any way to accomplish this while keeping my wife connected? It could be hours until there’s a disconnect.
