Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file.

Help please!

Every time I exit ‘Display Properties’ or try to change the wallpaper, I get the following error; ‘Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file. This file is needed for your Active Desktop. To turn off Active Desktop click, OK’ – The screen goes to blank white and then a refresh will bring back my normal desktop.

I’ve tried turning Active Desktop on and off (no joy) I’ve Googled it to see if I could find the answer (no joy), every doc. I find relates to Win 98, I’m using XP Pro, though I did follow the the directions I have found in three different docs from MSKB, (no joy). I’ve also tried un/re-installing IE7 (no joy) I’ve tried un/re-registering and replacing MSHTML.DLL (no joy). I’ve tried using Hijack This and found one BHO, removed it and you guessed it, NO JOY! The only thing I haven’t tried is pulling my hair out… but I don’t that will help much either.

Please! Can some one help, I need more more joy in my life.
