Internet Explorer & Javascript logins

By bldsm ·

I created a web page which allows customer's to login to obtain customer price lists. Some customer's get a word doc and others a pdf. If a customer uses Mozilla after the username and password is entered the right doc opens. BUT with IE versions a 2nd and sometimes 3rd login box appears and requires input b4 eventually allowing entry.

Why is this and how do I stop it happening????

Have a go with either browser at

username: test
password: test

If it works it will give u a word doc.

Please let me know how you get on.

Many thanks

Both Firefox 1.0.7 and IE6 worked fine.

You may want to rethink the login method so that it does not expose the information. It would be better to use server side scripting, for example PHP if your server supports it.

Send me a PM if you need more info.

If I didn't know this that would have been helpful, but thanks anyway. Bruce

Contact me for some help with several elements of your website. My comments are off topic for your question. The url you provided is dead. I did try your regular link to member login and it worked fine. I tested in IE6 and Firefox 1.0.7. I can show you how to create a simple text database of your customers and provide secure login scripting for them. Will be happy to assist if you like.
