Invisible email messages

I’m running Outlook 2000 on a Windows 2000 Pro Platform. I have a personal folder and have setup mail delivery to it. The Exchange administrator had to repair the Exchange Server and is now back online. My Question is- why is it that I see a number fourteen “(14)” (in blue print)indicating the number of messages on the mailbox (server side) yet there is no messages there to transfer to my PST file? Has anybody seen this before?
