Install RRAS (Routing and Remote Access) on the multi homed computer.

Set the default gateway on the two other computers to the multi-homed computers' internal ip address.

Configure the multi home to route IP traffic with the RRAS.

You should be able to access the internet.

Upgrade the server w/two NIC's to Windows 2000. Then use Internet sharing. Very easy, very good.

If you do not have routeable IP addresses for your internal machines, you cannot do what you want without having Proxy server installed on the multi-homed server, or, as answer 2 stated, Internet connection sharing (which NT 4.0 does not have).

I didn't know you wanted to spend some money on proxy. But here are the steps to setting up proxy. The RRAS could of worked, but it is much more difficult to manage than proxy.

1. Disable IP forwarding for tcpip protocol in network properties on the dual nic machine. reboot. this also assumes you have iis 3 or 4 installed needs to be installed first.
2. install Proxy, do not enable authentication for outbound connections
3. during the installation, it will as you about your local address table (LAT) (these are your inside nic addresses) make sure the lat includes your dual nic internal address.
4. reboot the server.
5. on the client machines, you will need to install the proxy client software. open a browser and in the address line type your proxyserver ipaddress\msproxy
click on the link, install the software and reboot,
the clients should be able to surf no problem, get to pop3 sessions excetera.

Let me know if you need any more help.
