ive uninstalled the drivers, re installed it, rebooted the PC after uninstalling the drivers, still no sign of success, anyone got any thoughts?

You need to dump your USB entries ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Ipod Nano 16gig

A. Click on Start
B. Right Click on My Computer, click on Properties
C.Click on the Hardware tab
D. Click the Device Manager button.
E. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
F. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
G. Restart the computer, and allow the computer to reinstall the USB controllers.
H. Plug in the removable USB storage device ~the iPOD~, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.

If that doesn't solve the matter, I would be tempted to suggest that the iPOD hard drive is knackered. The iPOD should be returned for replacement.

If there is a Mother-in-Law in the equation ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Re: USB entries

I, personally, would never have become involved in the first place.

The procedure outlined in my last post is unlikely to cause any problems on re-boot. The computer should notice the absence of USB controllers and re-install them from Cabinet files as a matter of course.

However, you never mentioned the Mother-in-Law !!

I'd walk away now and leave the In-Laws to sort out their own problems, before YOU become the problem.

I would try it on another system first

by jdclyde In reply to Re: USB entries

if you can get the ipod to work on another system, THEN and only then, I would start making changes to the MIL's system.

I ALWAYS confirm the device is working on a second system before going on.

Since there is a Mother-In-Law abound

by The Scummy One In reply to Ipod Nano 16gig

I would seriously consider being on vacation until the problem sorts itself out. An unplanned business trip or something is always a nice touch, even if your business doesnt support travel (never clue them into this factor -- or you will have less excuses).
And finally, another suggestion is to use the excuse "My religion made me do it" when you say that you cannot help. Yes, even you have the ability to use this phrase, and when you use this scummy excuse, you will automatically become a member of The Church of Scum.

Avoid mothers-in-law at all costs. You can do nothing right when it comes to them.

mine is over a thousand miles away. No dropping in unexpectedly...
The only time she was ever here, she drove me up a wall for three weeks. Rearranging my silver drawer, pots and pans, doing dishes (not that I mind somebody doing dishes but she doesn't rinse them. Foaming coffee is gross.), 'straightening up (meaning that I couldn't find what I was looking for day after day), etc...
If I didn't murder then, odds are good there's nothing that can push me to murder now. ]:)
