Is Gates having marital problems?

By jck ·
All the interviews I've seen in the past couple of years, Bill Gates has always had a wedding ring on his left hand.

However the photo on Microsoft.com's current frontpage (as of 10:05am US ET), he seems not to be wearing one.

Anyone know if he and Mrs. Gates have had a parting of the ways?

ADDENDUM:

If they are, I got dibs on his wife!!! ]:)

First of all, lots of people in IT don't wear rings, I take mine off whenever I work in a computer. It could also be an old picture.

Personally, I don't think we should care whether he is married or not, unless and until that impacts his business.

Judge not, lest ye be judged.

Much as I am not a MS or Bill Gates fan, leave the guy alone. There are many more important things going on in the world.

a reversed picture.

Very common if someone is looking to the left and you want them facing the right, you just inverse the pic. I see it all the time because signs in the back ground will have the text inversed too.

Used to do a lot of photography. Fun hobby, but hard to make a living at it. That and radio broadcast, VERY hard to make any money at that one and NO job security.

Hmm, is Gates right handed? if so, his watch is still on the left hand as should be. Maybe not the inversed pic after all.

Funny

In high school, I was the yearbook photographic editor, pres of camera club etc. I did look at going to photo school - very expensive. And I looked at wedding photography - hated the idea. I enjoy landscape photography.

I also did some college radio work - lots of fun, but I knew I wasn't cut out for the instability of it all.

My brother in law is a video editor, and we see this stuff of reversing all the time - even in video!

Oh yeah

And if you never were exposed to it, the general masses NEVER notice if something is reversed or not. Just like I bet there are hundreds of thousands of people that saw that pic of Gates and never noticed if there was even a ring or not.

I did realize my DJ life wasn't going to go anywhere when the best offer I had was from the local strip joint. Had to turn the job down though. I don't ever want looking at naked women to become a job.

And yes, the landscape photography, mountains, islands, ocean, the waste lands. All would be great to make a living off of going to see! Then there are the swimsuit model photographers! Woo Woo! ]:)

Radio job

This has nothing to do with Bill Gates' impending divorce but in reply to jd's message, I wanna be one of the people who read the traffic reports on the radio. Talk about an easy (but useless) job that you get paid to do. Why do they pay someone to do nothing but read traffic reports when the DJ could just as easily do it?

BTW, don't be surprised if someone takes a quick peek at this discussion and before you know it rumors of Bill Gates' marriage going south will be rampant on the Intenet.

You heard it here first folks!

that traffic reporters are not needed. LOL!

It gives the illusion of more crediblity to have an "expert" on the weather actually read it instead of the DJ.

My dream was to have a job at RIF down in Detroit. They ROCKED! Alas, it just wasn't meant to be. B-)

Not to mention, a dj typically only makes about 20k a year if they aren't syndicated. I couldn't pay for my beer tab with that!

Depends

In the late 80s I was partnered in a small consulting firm with a DJ. He used to work full time at it, then got a gig doing weekend mornings.

He made more on 2 4 hours shifts on the weekend than during the week, and he didn't do that badly during the week. Of course the Toronto market pays well. And he wasn't syndicated, but was working for a big chain.

The market around here

is fierce.

They don't have to pay crap because there are more people dieing to get a start than there is demand for so you are easily and cheaply replaced.

It isn't until you are established and have a following that things start to look up.

Sometimes I still think about starting up a web radio station. May yet do one after the divorce is final and I get my life back! Many radio stations are all computerized now anyways and even the voice overs are pre-recorded so it wouldn't cut into work time. Hmmmmm.

I have a transmitter that will transmit about two city blocks, and me and some friends would run a show out of the basement with a cable run up the tree out front for an antenna. Multiple turntables, faders and lots of albums! We did a 48 hour stint once, doing four hour shifts between three of us. Great fun. I wonder if that transmitter still works after twenty odd years? My boys would get a kick out of doing that!

someone could have just photoshopped the ring off. We could have tons of Gates photos without his ring.

Why?

Why would someone even bother to edit the photo to erase the ring off his finger? Maybe Bill is strapped for cash and he hocked his ring.
