Is it best to buy a refurbished laptop

    by jp599607 ·

From my personal experience, buying a second-hand or a refurbished laptop is much better than opting for a new laptop. If you want to make the most of every dollar the next time you buy a laptop, consider buying a refurbished machine. Although you usually won’t find the latest and greatest product sold as a refurbished product, you can usually save money and get more features by considering a stale product.

That market was wiped out here.

There’s little of interest in the refurb market here now (USA.) And second hand or Ebay sources (not refurb) run the risk of you inheriting other people’s problems.

For example I just helped with a second hand HP desktop and in the end it was a bum motherboard. We had to get a new case, power supply, motherboard and even a new CPU cooler because the HP CPU cooling system was way too loud.

Buying a used laptop is not always a great idea. Quite often you can buy a thing that breaks during the first year of use, which leads to spending money on repairs or buying a new laptop.
