Is it normal for HP laptops to be so loud?

I recently got a new Laptop for University. It’s a HP 17 cp0656ng. While downloading stuff everything was fine and I didn’t notice anything weird, but when I tested if different programs run well (IntelliJ and Minecraft) I noticed that the fan gets super loud.

When not doing anything it quiets down completely, but the moment I open anything or simply just move my mouse it gets super loud again.

I had a cheaper laptop before a couple of years ago and don’t remember it being so loud, is it normal?

It wouldn’t bother me too much if it was just a regular fan sound, but this one is kinda high pitched. (For a fan at least).

If it’s not normal, is there anything I can do about it?

Don’t forget that the more intensive the program(s) that use the CPU, the faster the fans will ramp up to help cool the CPU and computer hardware. Nothing new or unusual. If the laptop is still under warranty, you should reach out to HP for product support/tips. HP may offer additional diagnostic tools to determine if a hardware component is failing.

Don’t forget that this laptop is a bare bones system and not a high-end gaming rig. You bought the equivalent of a Hyundai vs. a Ferrari.

Sounds normal for this model. However some don’t like how PCs can change the fan speed and are startled by fan speed changes. Some models offer an always on fan setting that keeps the fan running and avoids the fan speed changes.

For me I got used to the speed changes eventually.

Hey, my previous laptop was HP and it works laud too. I didn’t make any fan speed changes or something like that… just got used to this. Now I am working on ASUS, and if I have to compare both, I can say that ASUS is more silent than HP.

Most of the HP laptop have great sound quality.. So i guess it too normal for HP laptops to sound higher.
