Is my LAN card faulty??

by asher2jk . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

Hi,
I work on windows XP (SP 2).
The LAN card i use is “Asound 10/100M Based Fast Ethernet Card”.
Now i never really had used it as my Router had a Usb connection so never used the LAN card for an internet connection.
Recently purchased a Laptop and i wanted that it should also be able to access the internet, so there comes the need of the LAN card in the desktop.
Now the Router has DHCP enabled, connected a LAN cable to the Laptop and it works fine but when did the same with the Desktop, it nearly froze.
Went to the N/w connections to see whats going on and there it shows its busy getting an ip address.
Checked the LAN card’s status in device manager and it says the device is working properly with the drivers being fine.
Sorry for the long explaining part 🙂
So the question, should i get it replaced or there’s some tinkering to do??
Would appreciate all the help i can get
And am sure its a Router not a modem.
