Is there any chance to lose of data in ftp while using mget command?

My colegue say there is some possibilities of lose of FTP data while using mget command. It happen only in connection failure .
Could any one please explain is it possible or not ?

What kind of data loss are you talking about? Your files aren't going to get destroyed by using mget, but if the network connection is poor then you could get data corruption, resulting in an unreadable file at the receiving end.

Not with mget per se as far as I'm aware

Always the chance at point you issue the command, one of the files that would have been picked up appearing after file existance is checked.
All depends on whatever mechanism you have for not picking up files you have already ftp'd

There are several ways round that, depending on the type of data and how dynamically the files change.
