Is there such an option as finding a cd version from the Product key?

By inesska_6 ·
I have to reinstall XP Pro because of bad HD.
with keyfinder I found what was the product key, but I don't have an original XP CD.
Therefore I m using someone elses CD for installation, but after enterying my product key I receive an error message that its not a valid CD. I tried others CD's with the same result.
Is there any posibility to find CD version (OEM, retail, etc..) from the product key?

Please help, I wasted 2 weeks on it

Thank you for your time.

I.

access the old hard drive, you could look for the Product ID. It is in the registry and also in a setupp.ini file.
If the system came with XP Pro on it, it could be an OEM. Some OEM disks were tied to the manufacturer's BIOS.
