Are those my only options? Why can't it be both?

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Is Twitter a forum

It could be both. It could be neither. Me, I vote for 'time sink' or 'fad' or, again, both.

Sounds about right

Although the "time sink" option is right up there. Although I have learned things, for example, I wasn't aware that it was difficult to find a ham and cheese sandwich in Budapest.

If I'm ever in Budapest,

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Sounds about right

I'll be darned if I'm going to waste much time looking for an H&C. Our rule when travelling is never eat anything we can get at home.

I mostly agree

My one exception is a cheeseburger with onion rings, for reasons of mental health.

Otherwise the food I eat depends on where I am. In Boston or Maine it's Lobster, in Alabama it's shrimp and grits and in Florida it's rock shrimp and Mickey Mouse ice cream.

Before my mother passed away she told me a story about being in New Orleans with her sister and sister-in-law. She was appalled when her sister ordered meatloaf and her sister-in-law order veal parm. My mother had Jambalaya and then endured their remarks about eating weird stuff. That was their last vacation together.

Depends whats on offer...

I'm pretty adventurous, and I can also get just about anything in Toronto.

In NYC we refused to eat fast food. Had a great burger at a brew pub along with some nice wiessbiere (white beer). Had a southern "soul" buffet with catfish, grits, peach cobbler etc.

As for Ham and cheese, I look forward to having a croque Monsieur in Paris, I've had one before but who knows if it matches the original. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croque-monsieur
