Locked

It is as if the shift key is stuck

By wilfred.vudikaria ·
When I try to click on an icon, all the icons, from the previously highlighted icon, to the one that I clicked on, are highlighted. Also, without pressing the Caps Lock key, the case intermitently changes. How can I resolve this? I have Win98 on my NEC Versa Note VXi. Software support has advised that it is not a software problem, and the hardware people cannot seem to help me.

If you have an extra keyboard temporarily put that one in and see if the same thing happens. If it happens then you know that it is something else like the mouse causing your problem.

You can also remove the keys from the keyboard and clean them one by one or use air cannester to clean them out.

Definitely!!

The cleaning of the keyboard did it. I have monitored the laptop for over a week now and am most satisfied with the result.

Thanks alot LMon!!!
Most appreciated.

Hi Lmon

Sounds as though you have StickyKeys turned on. Open Control Panel, select Accessibility and deselect 'Use StickyKeys'.

Good luck
