Hi.

I recommand you two very good IDE tools:
Visual Cafe 4, Enterprise Edition, from WebGain (www.webgain.com), and
Visual Age from IBM.
I have no statistics to offer you, I think you should test them by your own, because you know the best your needs. Get the trial versions and evaluate them.

You can, though, check the voters poll from this address: http://www2.sys-con.com/java/readerschoice2001/liveupdateide2.cfm , from where you can get a better picture about other used IDEs, too.Hope this helps.

The big boy on the block is Borland 4.0 EE. HOWEVER, for an IDE that works effortlessly with 8i is Oracle's own JDeveloper (which by the way is licensed from Borland). What makes JDev a preference for me is its BC4J integration, ease of deployementto the database or webServer, integration with Designer Repository 6i for config mgmt and version control and remote debugging of class and EJB deployed to the webServer or database. There are minuses to be sure, but if you are solely going to be working with 8i -- stay in-house and use JDev you'll save many hours of gut wrenching agony keeping your enterprise alive.

I have been using the IBM's Visual Age for Java 3.5 enterprise edition since the last 1 yr and it has been a really handy tool for me to get the work done.....Though confusing and hard to get hang on initially but once u know the features, its the easiest tool and the most preferred tool in the market....
