JPEG File Size Changes in Vista

By isupportpcs ·
I have a customer who uses photoshop cs3 on a vista machine. When saving pics from her camera into Vista some keep the 5Mb file size and others change randomly to anywhere between 200K and 500K when all the files are the same size?? Has anyone experienced a similar problem.....?

re: file size in jpeg's from camera

The file size of jpeg's from a camera are determined by the camera settings. The higher resolution settings cause larger files sizes. The higher resolution creates larger physical size too. If you look at the properties of a file with large file size (5MB), you'll see it might be 1680x1024 physically. The properties for a file with smaller file size might show 800x640.

When you import those images from the camera into Photoshop, it will also tell you what the physical dimentions of the file are. Images can be resized in Photoshop to decrease the physical size (width/height) which will in turn decrease the file size (kb/mb).

Check the settings on the camera and determin what resolution you can live with.
