Jpgs corrupt?

By nessie13 ·
Hi, my friend is having a problem with all his jpgs, the bottom third of the picture turns a solid grey.

Does anyone know what has caused this, or better yet, is there a software that will fix this problem, he doesn't have a hard copy back up of the original pictures.

Thanks Guys..

Carol

What is he using to VIEW the jpg's with?

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to Jpgs corrupt?

It's possible the program he's using to view the JPG's with is corrupt. So, what's he using?

It's also possible the JPG's are all infected with a virus. What's he using to control that? Has he done a full system scan with it lately?

I have fired him off an email to check, he did email me one of the pictures and it displayed fine in my Thunderbird email, but when I saved it and opened it using Picasa2, It changed and the grey section appeared.

either the software you were using before is corrupt or doesnt support jpgs(very doubtful!)

Could it be?

by nessie13 In reply to then....

Hi, we are both using different software to view the pictures and all of my pictures are showing up without any problems.

Could the corruption have happened with the software that was used to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer?

Thanks for your help guys, I want to have a look at a few more of his pictures.

I think I may know what is wrong, I blew up the picture that he sent me and I am sure that it was cropped, looking at the rest of them will confirm it.
I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

if his are still half grey resend the ones you just opened, they may not have sent over to him properly
