Just Starting Out in Web Development – Need Guidance on Where to Begin!

Hey everyone! 👋 I’m completely new to web development and feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options out there (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, frameworks, hosting… 😵). I want to build cool stuff on the internet, but I don’t know where or how to start. Any advice, roadmaps, or resources would be super appreciated! 🙏

What’s the best language to learn first?

Do I need to learn design (like Figma) or just coding?

Is it better to learn frontend or backend first?

That really depends on what cool stuff you want to make.

Let me help you to make your first website on your own PC, without any HTML, CSS, Javascript, frameworks or hosting. No language needed, no design, no backend. It will take 2 minutes at most.
Open Notedpad, type “This is my first website.”, save it as for example my_site.html (be sure it’s not my_site.html.txt) and open it in your favorite browser.

You need to host it at the hosting service of your choice to show it to the world as, say, http://www.freelancers238.com . Their help will tell how to do that.

Many people make websites without knowing anything about HTML, CSS, javascript or frameworks. They just use WordPress. Why not start with that?

Hey! I’m also just starting out with web development, and I totally get how overwhelming it feels 😅 I’ve been trying to learn by doing, and recently I created a new page for my site in WordPress — but for some reason, the footer isn’t showing up on that page while it works fine everywhere else.

If anyone here has run into something similar or knows what might be causing it, I’d love your help!

Learning by doing definitely brings up real challenges, but I guess that’s part of the process! 😄 Good luck on your journey — we’ve got this!

It’s a site made in WordPress. That means that we can only see the result, not the source. Maybe better contact a WordPress freelancer to correct what you did wrong.

And remember: everyone has his speciality. Your company specialises in electricity, and hires a webdeveloper when needed. And a webdeveloper specialises in, say, WordPress, and hires a electrician when needed. That’s how the economy works, and it’s better for everybody.

I’ve seen good looking websites made by people that know no languages.

There is no best language.

Example: WORDPRESS.

Dive in, make sites, and only then consider completing coursework.

Finally. Did you try making a site using AI/ML tools we have today?
