When u start the installation of linux, boot the computer with linux bootable CD and then type “TEXT” and then enter it.
Then further Choose custom installation, when it will be asked and after that for a wile you will be asked packages of linuxto be installed.

If you have already installed RH7.2, without KDE, then insert the CD, mount it and install the KDE RPM’s as “rpm -ivh
”
If there are any dependencies, it will point out and you can install them as well.-

Hi,
you can use the packge manager software(in kde, if already installed an older version) or in GnoRPM(i think this is the name, and must have gno installed already). Don’t use the check dependancies option and install them all-

cd /where/you/downloaded/the/KDE3/RPMS
rpm -e `rpm -qa |egrep ^kde`
rpm -ivh –force *.rpmor you may use th “gnorpm” utility after running the x-server. Remove the old rpms before installing the new ones. Ignore the dependency errors.

Its not the most fun but very much so possible since I did it 🙂
What you need to do is remove all kde packages and THEN install all of the KDE3 stuff. Dont worry about the libraries and any dependencies, there is a KDE2 compatibilty library to fix that. It ended up taking a while. I really wish I would have made a script to do this so I could replicate this much more easily, but I did not.
I grabbed the enitire KDE3 RPM list from http://ftp.redhat.com BTW. And used GNOME + gnorpm to get ridof KDE2.2.2.
