Keeping a log file

By Rick Nichols ·
Some time ago I knew of a way to use notepad or something to keep a log file. I think if you named the file log.txt and put the word log: as the first line each time you opened the file it would insert the current date and time on a new line. you could use this file to keep track of call or other incdents. I can't get anything to work this way now, I must have forgotten the key to the process, any thoughts.

To create an "append"log document

On the first line of a Notepad document, type the following extension at the left margin, making sure you use all uppercase letters and include the period:
.LOG

On the File menu, click Save.

Note
Everytime you open this document, Notepad will append the current time and date to the end of the document, as specified by your computer's clock.
