Key Management System – Help with a Question

We have a CA with 3 regional offices, linked by internal network. A Key management system needs to be designed to support their activities. Discussing all relevant aspects of KMS lifecycle.

Any Info Security experts able to help with a brief answer to how to tackle this?

Usually, such in done in Windows Active Directory running on some server in the network.

And here’s a Powerpoint-presentation with 36 slides from the NIST about exactly your question: the Key Management Lifecycle.

Doesn’t seem to me something you design, program and implement yourself. It should be integrated in any OS or application you use that uses keys. That’s what standards are for.

All your organisation has to do is to use it in a safe way (e.g. forbid writing passwords on sticky papers attached to monitors). But that probably isn’t what your assigment involves.
