Keyboard mapping incorrectly on VNC view

    Locked

    by hta ·

I am running VNC Server on a few Linux box and within X windows of the console my keyboard is working fine but on a W98 while running VNCviewer, my “5 / %” key will act like a backspace. I had tried this on multiple client and server that mean it is related to keyboard mapping function of VNCviewer.
Does anyone have any idea on how to get around this problerm?

What version of vnc did you install? Did you compile it? What version of Linux is it? I know this isn’t an answer, but it might help to find a solution. I’ve never encountered that after having built on RedHat or using the Mandrake distribution rpms.
If you have rpm support, go to rpmfind.net and download the package for you distribution. Try renaming the user, auto-created system vnc directory to force a new script, etc. I’ll check back after you post more info, but this sounds more like a bug than a kbd map issue since it accesses fine from Linux to Linux. Try the above, or build your own again and check the config.log for errors. One last thing, have you tried reinstalling the winVNC viewer? Maybe a later install overwrote one of the libraries…

Adjust the keyboard mappings settings on your VNC client. Failing that, check the settings on the Linux VNC host.
