Ive got a gateway computer with windows xp home which had a boot error about missing/corrupted hal.dll. i tried using the gateway restore cd, but only had the option to do a completely fresh installation, or to go to a command prompt which didnt allow me to do anything. so i tried a different restore disk i had designated for hp/compaq. that one allowed me to get to the recovery center where i tried replacing hal.dll, boot.ini, etc without any luck. so i then tried the repair installation which started off great. it finished deleting old files and copying new files and restarted to continue the installation. then the problem… during the installation, a box pops up asking about an unverified driver. the driver has nothing to do with the problem, but i have to select yes or no which i cant do because the keyboard and mouse wont work. i tried ps/2 and usb, keyboard and mouse with no luck. they work just fine in the bios setup, but not in the installation. any ideas??
