Keyboard not working when trying to press key to boot by CD...!

By sasika99 ·

im trying to install windows XP on a PC and hit hard on this problem.
Basically, my keyboard does not functions just before i get this message: PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD...

the keyboard is a PS/2 and works in the bios and all.It works fine before that message.
I need to know if this is a problem( if so whats the solutions) or if this is a problem with a setting in the bios that hasnt been setup properly ( if so what's the setting)

I changed the PS/2 with a USB keyboard, tried a PS2 to USB converter
thank you all!!

Couple of thoughts

by robo_dev In reply to Keyboard not working when ...

if the keyboard works in bios, it is not a keyboard problem, and there are not typically any bios settings that relate to ps2 keyboard.

Have you tried another PS2 keyboard?

Have you tried resetting the bios to factory defaults?

Have you tried other bootable CDs?

Maybe your XP CD is not reading properly and the boot process is hanging at the point where it prompts for keyboard input. Sometimes the fix for that is simply cleaning the CD.

USB Emulation

Turn on USB emulation in the BIOS.
