I purchased a used laptop recently on which the Windows OS 8.1 was in French. Most of OS has been changed to English but there are still parts, such as the entries in Groups under Local Users and Groups (Local) and in the registry, which are still in French. Is there any program which will automatically translate everything into English?

You can use Microsoft translator which helps you to change the language. There can be a manual idea to reinstall the windows ang set the language from there.

Thanks for the reply but it seems to me that Microsoft translator does the same thing as Google Translate i.e. translate a piece of text in one language to another. I am looking for a means of changing French version of Windows 8.1 OS to an English version so that all controls, commands etc appear in English rather than in French. So, any ideas?

why don’t you try downloading an application to your phone and using the camera you could translate and then go to the language file and download or install the language you want
