This is a bizarre problem – I am helping a remote user who recently re-imaged her laptop (IBM Thinkpad T43)using instructions I provided her. The imaging was successful, and upon rebooting she was presented with the initial screens you get after installing a sysprepped image (enter Windows product key, choose admin password, etc.). However, the laptop’s keyboard is not working correctly in these Windows screens. There are several keys that just don’t work – A, E, I, O, U, N, Z,S,L,1,5,0, etc. I had her reboot into a command prompt and type, and the keyboard worked fine again. Rebooted back into the Windows setup screens, keyboard stops working again. I had her toggle num lock using SHIFT+Num Lock, but it didn’t help. Lastly, I had her connect an external USB keyboard to bypass the laptop keyboard, but then that keyboard exhibited the same problem. The keyboard worked fine on the old Windows installation that was present before re-imaging. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this infuriating problem? Thank you.
