My laptop suddenly stopped connecting to the internet from yesterday. At my home we have a wireless network and one of the laptop is connecting without any problem. This one (XPS m1330 with Vista) used to connect till yesterday and suddenly it refused. I can see that the network is connected. But it says local access only.
I tried resetting the modem router etc. Nothing solved. When I typed in IPCONFIG, it said MEDIA STATUS…. DISCONNECTED. I tried “netsh winsock reset” & “netsh int ip reset” My IP address and DNS are also set to “automatically obtain.” I also tried “ipconfig /release” & “ipconfig /renew” It returns the message “No operation can be performed… while it has its media disconnected”
None of this has solved the problem. Today I took the laptop to work and tried connecting the LAN cable directly. Still it doesnt connect to the net. Same LAN cable use to give net connection at my laptop before. My desktop at the office is working fine as well. Any ideas?
