Large email sending problem

My client needs to restart the computer to send a large email.
Outlook express or Mozilla Thunderbird have the same problem.
Mcafee security suite.(Completely disabled does the same thing)
windows xp home
broadband

Some of them have size limits for emails and/or any file uploading.

How big of a file are we talking about here?

What happens before the restart? Is there any kind of message or what symptoms are there - does the system freeze or what?

What type of computer are we discussing here?

What do you mean by 'a large email' - is this a large text file or an email with a large attachment?

There's really not a lot to go on so far.

Yes the restart allows the email to send.
The green send bar stops at one block.
Then an error message comes in from the email server sorry can't remember what it says, and as it is my clients computer can't look at it at the moment.
Can't remember the name of the computer, not a known brand, made up.
Large email or one with attachment, tried 1mb.
Hope this helps otherwise I will have to ask my client a few more questions.
