Hi there, I’ve just been given the task of overhauling a comms room which has been looked after by some lazy patchers. Its a mess! There should be numerous free ports both in the hubs and switches but the’re full.
We have 2 Catalyst 5501 switches and 8 3Comm Hubs, serving 410 users, printers n servers.
Is there a way of determining if a port has not seen any activity in 3 weeks etc. Could it be done from the cmd screen?
The only easy way do it, though I don’t really want to is to wait till every one has left, turn everything on and check for lights! I’d rather not though as they dont pay me overtime.
BTW I’ve inherited a database which is way out of date too, so can’t use it and I need to find 20 spare ports by Tuesday.
Any ideas guys?
