I got the brand new Lenovo thinkpad X1 Carbon gen 8 about 7 months ago. And I noticed that my laptop overheats quickly than the other laptops and initially 4 to 5 months i didn’t face any issues due to this overheating.

But now my screen freezes very often from the past one month which makes me to force reboot my laptop to continue my work. This is my work laptop too and finding this issue giving me a nightmare when i work.

I checked my drivers and all seems to be up to date. Is it a product fault or this version of lenovo is a failure product. Its so annoying when you need to reboot your laptop in between some important work.

Can anyone help me to sort this issue out

    Thanks in advance,

Because of the age of the computer, it should still be under warranty. Can you tell if the internal fans are still working properly? Does the laptop make any unusual noise? Best of luck.

You can try the usual factory reset as the maker will try that but be sure all your data and apps are on backups since, well, failures are very common.

I feel the same way. I sold the laptop right after one month I bought it.

I have purchased several carbon x1 g8s and g9s. The g8s are fine, but really hard to tell apart from the g7s. The g9s are clearly different in almost every way and generally for the better IMO. Also the cpu in that G9 is going to offer substantially better performance (30% on average) as is the integrated graphics by a factor of 400+% in some cases! Even if the g8 was a hundred or two hundred dollars cheaper, I’d go with the g9 without hesitation. If they are the same price then there’s no question to go with the g9.
