Let’s brainstorm the perusability/navigability of this site, shall we?

I think we all agree that the low navigability is hurting forum activity; people are naturally still adapting to the new look and function, but I think the difficulty in getting an overview of what’s going on in big discussions means people have less time and energy left over for actually contributing.
One thing I did just now with the Official Feedback thread was to put it to display all, collapsed, and browser at 70% zoom. That worked kinda-sorta, but it’s hard on the eyes, and the collapsed view is annoying, due to reload times.
If it’s possible to add a new view type, what should it be like?
How should it handle the thread and how should it handle the posts?
I think it would be neat if it could be made so that the thread structure is displayed alongside the posts view; so that you see the post you’re at; and you see the posts title highlighted in the thread structure depicted next to the post view.
Should have individual scrolling bars for each, so one can scroll slowly through the post view, or fast through the thread view…
Would that be good for y’all too? And/or what else?

(sorry for the condescending “shall we?” but it had to be in the form of a question…)
