Limit to records in Access 97

By ·
Has anyone any idea of the limit on records in an Access 97 database. The data we have is approx. 1,000,000 records and we need to use this as an archive.

There isn't a specific limit to the number of records (as there is in Excel, for example) but the overall size of an .mdb file cannot exceed 1GB for that version. If each record is very small, this could be room for 2 million entries, or more. Conversely, if each record is large, your data won't fit. Access 2000 changed this limitation to 2GB.
