Linking Win95 Laptop to Win98 PC

by rbwillba . Updated 25 years, 11 months ago

I have a laptop running Win95 with a 3com 10/100 PCI card. I recently installed a 3com Etherlink III NIC card on my PC running Win98. I have the two connected via a crossover cable. In network settings, each is set to the Windows Logon as the primary logon. Win98 recognized my NIC card and loaded the drivers. LEDs are glowing on both ends of the connection. But when I go into Network Neighborhood and try to do anything (click entire network or map network drive) I get an error message saying that the network is not available. I must be missing something. What else do I need to do?
