Linksys DLL Disables Fast User Switching Screen

By angeleyes ·
Recently I ran into an issue with a DLL installed on a clients XP Home machine having disabled the fast user switching.
File: %systemroot%\system32\GTGina.DLL
REG Key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
In most of the tech forums I searched they talekd about the Linksys WUSB54GC device driver being the install source... However upon further inquery to the customer the only device from linksys that she ownes is the Linksys WRT54G router using a cat5e ethernet cable.
The only time she could have possibly installed the GTGina.dll file would be using the Quick Setup disc that comes with the router, wich is what she used to setup her router.
The Steps I took to restore the fast user switching functionality was by:
1st) Renamed GTGina.dll to GTGinal.dll.backup
2nd) Exported the REG Location HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon to file
3rd) exported the entire registery just for due diligence
4th) Deleted the GTGina.DLL refrence inside teh regkey.
On Reboot the Fast User Switching was restored.

I would have used an updated driver, wich does seem to fix the issue, however there was no indication on the system the that the client was using the linksys network connection software to manage her network connections.

I wouldn't mind hearing what others would have done in the same situation.
