Linux and Winmodems.

by erothoff . Updated 23 years, 9 months ago

I have a linux mandrake 8.1 dialup server that has three 33.6 USR Sportser modems. Generally it works fine. I have one client that is running Korean window 98se, and a LT winmodem. (One desktop and one laptop computer.) With their computer, I can connect to other ISP’s, and using hyperterminal, connect to my server, but it refuses to connect using PPP. I have verified that the phoneline is fine with my winmodem notebook. The dialup connection works fine when we install a hardware based modem. (Granted. It was a 14.4 modem, not the 56K modem.) I also downloaded and installed the newest winmodem drivers, and deleted and reinstalled dialup networking. It is a problem, as far as I can tell, specific to Linux dialup servers and winmodems, but I can’t find the connection. (i.e. solution.)
Find me the wining solution, and win the answer. (BTW, the linux dialup server is configure for english and russian languages, not korean.)
