Linux Email Client

By tjswann ·
Does anyone know of a non-commercial email
client that will deliver full functionality
going against an exchange server. Not only
send and receive email but address book,
calendaring, etc., If current clients such
as Evolution or Kmail support this
functionality, how is it configured to
receive addresses/calendaring. Thanks in
advance.

There is no non-commercial that I have seen. But there was a packager called HP OpenView. Coul be HP OpenMail. Something like that. That allows for a connection to be made to an Exchange server.

Have not come across any though.

Hope this helps.

Cheers ....

Star Office has has calendaring email etc. . .Evolution has it but it does not connect to palm pilots and is still beta. I have never used back orface or exchange server (too many security concerns) There also is one that runs from a web server called php groupwise but I have found star office to be the most polished and finished.

Hi,

I have installed at my linux box and I've got my kde mail client againt an exchange server. You only have to read the properties, set the reading port at the mail port (25), check the box that you agree with, configure the mail server name and launch the client. It's realiy easyer than the configuing the netscape mail client (it's a very simple client). Or you can check out with the system administrator if the OWA (Outlok Web Access) is activated, and reach the exchange server via web.The default site for this service is:

your.exchange.server/exchange

your.exchange.server (in case use your intranet / other address)

Hope it helps
