List Style and Outline Styles in Word

I’m currently using the Outline 1.1 (1.1.1, 1.2.1, etc) style in Word. It’s based on the “list” style type – which does not allow paragraph formatting. Is there anyway to format the list type paragraph formatting or a similar style that I can use that will allow me to modify the paragraph formatting? THanks!
