Loading Windows 98 on Compaq DP2000

By kinika ·
I have an old Deskpro 2000/266 that I am trying to load Windows 98 on. Everything was cleaned off of it before I got it. Even the "fF10" BIOS function. In trying to load this function back on, and then load Win98, I downloaded files from Compaq and created floppies. When I boot from the floppies to reload the sw, I get a "NTLDR is missing, Press any dey to restart" msg. How do I get around this? It must have had NT loaded on it?

If you made the floppies on a computer with NT or 2000, this problem can crop up. A solution is to move the SP file to the root of the hard drive or in a folder that does not have any spaces in the path name. Then create the floppies again. Another option is to create the floppies on a computer running 98 or 95.

Hope this helps...

I moved the files and created a floppy from the root directory, and it worked. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the delay getting back.
