Loading Windows 98 on Compaq DP2000

I have an old Deskpro 2000/266 that I am trying to load Windows 98 on. Everything was cleaned off of it before I got it. Even the “fF10” BIOS function. In trying to load this function back on, and then load Win98, I downloaded files from Compaq and created floppies. When I boot from the floppies to reload the sw, I get a “NTLDR is missing, Press any dey to restart” msg. How do I get around this? It must have had NT loaded on it?
