    Local recipient does not exist

    by steven.benson ·

I just noticed a whole ton of these types of e-mails collecting in the system administrator mailbox. The subject line is a non-existent e-mail address with our domain name followed with “Local recipient does not exist”. The Sender address and recipient address is always the same. We are using an exchange 2000 server. Has anyone ever seen this behavior before? thanks.

In reply to Local recipient does not exist

Yes, its a form of spam thats spoofing your email domain and trying loads of different email address combos to get it to spam your organisation. Just delete them.
